5(6)-Carboxytetramethylrhodamine (5(6)-TAMRA or 5(6)-Carboxy-TMR) is a bright, photostable orange-red fluorescent dye with excitation/emission maxima of 543/572 nm. It has a high quantum yield, is compatible with rhodamine filter sets, and is optimally excited by 532 nm or 546 nm laser lines. Widely used for labeling peptides, proteins, nucleotides, and nucleic acids, it is ideal for fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, and sequencing.
The non-activated 5(6)-Carboxytetramethylrhodamine might be used for covalent labeling of proteins and alkylamino modified nucleic acids upon activation as, e.g. succinimidyl ester (SE or NHS ester). The product is provided as mixture of isomers.
