Trade name:
Dicarboxymethylene blue succinimidyl ester; Dicarboxymethylene blue NHS ester
Reactive Moiety:
NHS ester, reacts with 1° amines to form a stable amide linkage
The amine-reactive methylene blue derivative is used as an
electroactive labeling reagent for covalent attachment to proteins and
alkylamino modified nucleic acids. Dicarboxymethylene blue contains two
activated carboxylic acid functional groups. In addition to its
relatively high absorption, DCMB has excellent and validated redox
properties and is a good generator for singlet oxygen, making it to a
particularly suitable label for electrochemical and photosensitzer
applications.
*Absorption and fluorescence emission maxima of dicarboxymethylene blue (DCMB, F-0201) in TE buffer pH 7.6.
Formal Electrode Potential vs. Ag/AgCl (1 M KCl): Ef = -0.216 V
