Fluorescein is a bright green dye with excitation/emission maxima of 492/517 nm. It offers a high quantum yield, is fully compatible with fluorescein (FITC) filter sets, and closely matches the 488 nm spectral line of the argon-ion laser. Common applications include labeling peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, and other biomolecules for fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry and in vitro assays.
This 5-Iodoacetamido activated derivative (5-AAAF) enables covalent modification of the thiol group found on cysteine or with thiol-modified oligonucleotides to form a stable carbon-sulfur bond. The product is provided as single isomer.
