6-Carboxyfluorescein (6-FAM) is a bright green dye with excitation/emission maxima of 492/517 nm. It offers a high quantum yield, is fully compatible with fluorescein (FITC) filter sets, and closely matches the 488 nm spectral line of the argon-ion laser. Common applications include labeling peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, and other biomolecules for fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry and in-vitro assays.
This NHS- (succinimidyl-, SE) activated derivative enables covalent modification of primary and secondary amino groups in peptides, proteins, amino-modified nucleotides, and other amine-containing biomolecules, yielding stable amide bonds. The product is provided as single isomers.
